Briefing
Weave is a term related to weaving fiber as well as relations; in Italian, the translation of “weave” is also the plural of the noun that signifies “identity card”, or the certificate that used to be issued to each citizen in order to obtain supplies and food…
So, the Italian translation of both “weave” and “cards” refers to hospitality, as well as fabric, identity, right of belonging. The competition is addressed to future textile designers, and wants to push them to focus on the topic of reception, identity,
fabric hospitality.
It can then be a pattern, a texture, a textile that is used in the hospitality sector, and can be related to an identity communication.
Deliverables
Candidates are required to present:
- a short description of the concept (max 2 A4 pages)
- one or more images, describing the research process developed to reach the final design idea
- the design of a textile, with suggestions of possible uses andapplications
- a sample of the textile itself.
Jury
Projects will be evaluated by a Jury composed by:
Anna Barbara, Director of NABA Fashion and Textile Design Department
Benedetta Barzini, fashion sociologist and anthropologist
Massimiliano Bizzi, Director of WHITE textile fair
Marina Spadafora, fashion designer
Prize
The winner will be awarded of a full scholarship for the first year of NABA two-year Master of Arts Degree in Textile and new Materials Design, starting in January 2011.
The scholarship will be confirmed for the second year if the student will comply with specific academic requirements (average grade not less than 27/30 and at least 6 exams of the 1st year passed by September, 2011).
Deadline
All materials have to be sent to NABA in a closed envelope and hAVE TO REACH NABA WITHIN SEPTEMBER 30TH 2010, along with the attached application form and with all the documents specified in it.
